There is a quit group in
every mountain town. They move through life
under the cover of snow, rock, forest and
river. They know all the best ski lines,
climbing spot, trail runs and what the special
beer is on tap each week at the local brew
pub. They explore the backcountry under
a veil of secrecy, keeping the private stashes
private and sharing hard won experience
only amongst themselves.
Becoming a member isn’t any formal
situation. There are no initiation rights
or secret handshakes. You either have it
or you don’t – and in the big
mountains this becomes obvious in a hurry.
These are the people in mountain towns who
are referred to as “the skids”
- at Cloudveil, we call them inspiration.
It is from this mountain culture that Cloudveil
evolved and still thrives. We know that
if our clothes pass the muster with them,
they’ll pass the test with anyone.
From our home base in Jackson Hole, Wyoming,
we strive each and every day to exceed their
jaded expectations.
Most of us at Cloudveil have moved on from
the physical living on “skid”
row. We still visit at times, poaching a
fresh new ski lie or working out a technical
problem on a first ascent with old friends.
We take these experiences in the mountains
and convey that same element of risk, desire
and adventure into the challenge of building
the best outdoor apparel money can buy.
